guest bathroom {remodel}

Hello! I am so proud of this guest bathroom remodel that I'm blogging about it and it takes a lot for me to take the extra time to blog after a project these days!

Kevin and I really worked more together on this room/project than any previous project/redo and I really feel like we are getting the hang of tearing stuff up and making it our kind of pretty :)

Most importantly, here is the finished project:

Can you really appreciate the finished product with out some good 'ol before and afters???
I hardly think so...

And just so you don't think this was a 2 day HGTV redo I'll throw in some progress pics that are between week 2 and month 2!
We actually finished this project faster than any other room we've redone... about 5 months from start to replacing the light switches (replacing the light switches typically takes us a whole year to decide it's finally worth the effort to do!).

The Top 3 things I love most about the new bathroom:

1. The bathtub is bigger! 2" higher and 2" wider, and it's amazing!
2. My custom barn wood mirror by Kelsey Farms... I felt like Joanna Gains for this remodel "let me just have my personal carpenter whip this up for me..."!
3. Everywhere I look, I'm reminded how skilled Kevin is at making what's in my head come to life!

Come visit, it's been a month now so I might rescind the "no bathroom use" restrictions - You're probably rolling your eyes, but the bathroom was perfectly pristine! I had to maintain that status for as long as possible!!!

bathroom commitment

I finally bought a mirror for the downstairs bathroom!!!
I've been very particular about what I wanted and I think  hope know this is it!!!
This is one of my bigger online purchases and the first for any sort of home decorating item so I'm really hoping it looks as good in the bathroom as I want it to!

Here's a reminder of what the bathroom currently looks like (mirrorless)

bathroom update !!!!!!!!!!

I'm finally ready to share a bathroom update!!! I've put together some of the many pics we've taken along the way. We're not finished with this project, but the room is back to functional!

Remember my first post way back in May, seen here? We've run into a lot of issues and are very thankful to haved learned way more than we thought we needed to a lot and for the people who have helped us out! Specifically all the people who we borrowed tools from and Rob - who mended a water pipe we accidently found in the wall ;)

Remember what it looked like before we got started???

remember how tiny it appeared?

remember the brown shell shaped vanity that was too large for the room and falling apart anyway?

remember the old toilet that I just loved?

remember the toilet paper holder that had 8 screws and glue holding it to the wall?

remember the crack in the wall and the lack of paint and molding from where we moved the pantry?

remember the linolium floor?

ALL GONE!!!

we painted the walls...

we tiled the floor...

we replaced the trim...

once that was all done we had this awesome new room...

then we added a new toilet...

which looks much much better!

and a new vanity/sink combo and new faucet...

I may have even purchased 3 different faucets until I found exactly the right one!

finally (for now) we painted the door and added new hardware...

I haven't found the perfect mirror or light yet and we need to add things like a tp holder, towel holder, light plates and wall art, but I love love love how everything is turning out and I couldn't wait any longer to share!!!

bathroom project sneak peak

Well we haven't been moving as quickly on the bathroom as I may have lead you to belive after my excited post last week. However, things are progressing and we've made it past a few hurtles like a toilet paper holder that was attached to the wall with EIGHT screws and then glued for good measure!

Here's some pictures to hold you off until i've got some more finished pictures to share!

Here's the floor still covered in glue - this was the first "time-sucker" we ran into :)

and the first patching to fix the previously mentioned toilet paper holder

painting the trim

primer, coat 1, coat 2, now stripes!!!

taking naps between paint coats!

Summer Project - Downstairs Bathroom

Kevin and I are gearing up to takle our downstairs bathroom remodel.
I thought I'd share some before pics so you might understand why
this room is so high on our to-do list :)

Here's a shot from the top. Notice the whole bathroom pretty much fits in this photo?
That means it's tiny! My goal for this room is to make it seem as open and airy as possible!

One thing I'll really miss when we're done with the re-do is this lovely brown toilet.. NOT

Everything's been in this room so long it's already starting to fall apart on it's own.
I'm thinking a pedestal sink and large mirror in place of the current setup!

And here's a shot of the linoleum floor. Kevin has tiling experience so I'm
very excited for that change.

This corner had a very large storage pantry that we moved to the kitchen when we
bought the house. The lack of paint and base boards hasn't bothered me
these past two years because I NEVER use this batheroom!
I'd rather walk upstairs then walk into this dark scary room!

It's hard to see in this picture, but there's also this weird crack that looks like a big
piece of drywall was added for some reason. That's got to be fixed first and then
we're painting the walls with tone-on-tone stripes
(not the blue in the picture)... so excited!

I'm so excited to get this project started, but Kevin and I are getting pretty famous for
putting things off for loooong periods of time. Make sure and bug ask us how it's going
so we're motivated to get it done for realz!
